Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) also known as NDIS Therapy Assistants provide essential support with speech delay programs, working closely with your speech pathologist to help you achieve your communication and swallowing goals. With speech language therapy and AHA support, you can expect improved communication skills and a better quality of life.
Key Services:
Communication Device Support:
Our AHAs identify opportunities to use communication devices, recognise barriers, and provide this information to your speech pathologist for better-tailored support.
Social Skills Support:
We accompany participants to activities like Scouts, offering prompts and support for using newly learned social skills while interacting with peers.
Communication Device Demonstration:
Our team demonstrates to people in the participant's everyday environment how to set up and support communication devices, ensuring consistent use.
Repetitive and Structured Activities:
We deliver repetitive, structured, playful activities several times a week for children with intellectual disabilities and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), providing the intensive support needed for progress.
Independent Communication Encouragement:
Our AHAs encourage participants to independently ask for their favourite items, like using a request card at a fast-food outlet, reinforcing practical communication skills.
Support Worker Training:
We demonstrate to usual support workers how to prompt and support clients, enabling them to provide necessary assistance in the future, thus enhancing overall support consistency.
